Obituary for Nolan Edward Shumake

Nolan Edward Shumake, age 86, of Texarkana, Tx, formerly of Wake Village, TX, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2020 in a Texarkana, Texas Hospital.

Nolan was born July 22, 1933 in Bowie County, Texas to Thomas Edward and Lizia Mealy Moore Shumake.  He was retired from Red River Army Depot and was a member of the First Baptist Church , Nash, Texas.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army and the Army National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Lizia Shumake and two brothers, Bill Shumake and Jimmy Shumake.

He is survived by his wife: Polly Johnson Shumake of Texarkana, TX; two sons and daughters-in-law: Tommy and Denise Shumake of Texarkana, TX and Mark and Susan Shumake of Ft. Worth, TX; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Anna Mae “Sucky” and Leslie “Tank” Tidwell of De Kalb, TX and Betty Sue Meadows of De Kalb, TX; a brother and sister-in-law: Joe and Charlotte Shumake of Wake Village, TX; two Grandsons and their spouses: Chris and Megan Shumake of Little Rock, AR and Andy and Anna Shumake of Texarkana, TX; three great granddaughters: Eliza, Lenore and Emily; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cremation will be carried out under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home, De Kalb, TX.

A Celebration of Nolan’s Life will be held at a later date.
