Obituary:
Vivian Estelle Griffis, 98, of De Kalb, Texas passed away Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Sunny Acres Nursing Center.

Vivian was born March 1, 1912 in Red River County, Texas to Warren and Addie Raleigh Dalby. She was a homemaker and a member of the Community of Christ Church in De Kalb, Texas.

She is survived by a daughter, Nelda G. Hill of Colorado City, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Dorothy Griffis of Dalby Springs, Texas and Dalby and Dena Griffis of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; ten grandchildren, Judy Brinkley of De Kalb, Texas, David Griffis of De Kalb, Texas, Dana Blackstone of De Kalb, Texas; Mary Thrapp of Texarkana, Texas, Mike Hill of Colorado City, Texas, Mark Hill of Midland, Texas, Meri Odell of Canyon, Texas, Cindy Fine of Portales, New Mexico, Dalby Griffis, Jr. of Wichita Falls, Texas and Marlin Griffis of Red Bluff, California; 22 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Aylon H. Griffis and a brother Francis E. Dalby.

Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, September 13, 2010 at Bates Family Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Bates Family Funeral Home with Elder Leroy Morgan and Robby Bates officiating. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery.

Am so sorry for your loss. Vivian (we called her "Pete"!) was such a special, sweet lady. My mother and daddy (Katie and Clarence Raleigh) loved her dearly. God bless you.
