Wednesday, June 16, 2010 Bates Family Funeral Home Obituary: Mrs. Wilene Shumake of De Kalb, Texas passed away Friday, June 11, 2010 at Albert Pike, Arkansas. She was 67. Wilene was born October 15, 1942 in De Kalb, Texas, to William and Lessie Childers Cabler. She was a retired Accounting Technician at Red River Army Depot and a member of Pinkham Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Barbara Shumake of De Kalb, Texas and Wade and Debbie Shumake of De Kalb, Texas; a brother-in-law, Roger Shumake; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Shumake; a sister, Ouida M. Son; and two grandsons, Nicholas Shumake and Timothy Shumake. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Bates Family Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the De Kalb High School Gymnasium with Rev. Don McPherson, Rev. Roddy Jackson, Rev. John Marlar and Rev. Joe Helms officiating. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Pinkham Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, Parking Lot Fund, 117 SE Browning St., De Kalb, Texas 75559 or Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 5 Frazier Cowart Rd., Glenwood, Arkansas 71943. Wilene was a wonderful and beautiful person. She always had a smile on her face and something nice to say to everyone. She will be dearly missed. So glad I had the opportunity to work with her these last few years. I know without a doubt she is with our Lord and Savior. Your family is in our prayers.

My wife and I met Mr. & Mrs. Shumake at Albert Pike Camp Ground on Wednesday June 9, 2010. What a wonderful couple. Her smile was contagious. She loved talking about her family. We know she will be greatly missed by all her Family and Friends. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family and pray that God will heal all the pain that comes in a time such as this. To all of the Shumake family: I am so deeply saddened by this horrible tragedy. Night and day, all I can see or think of is the pain that is a constant in your hearts right now. No words I can say will bring you half the comfort that comes from Jesus Christ. He is there for you; just call on His name. Please know that this family is in my heart and prayers. I didn't know Mr. Shumake or Nicholas, but I did know Wilene, such a beautiful, kind lady, always ready with a good word and smile. I know she loved her family so much. May you be comforted by God's never-ending love and grace.

Barbara, my heart goes out to you and Tony and the rest of the family. Wilene was the most sweetest person I have ever known. In all the years she worked at NAF Services, she went out her way to help anyone that was in need of help. Every once in a while I would see her in Walmart and she always ask how I am doing. I will miss seeing her. I have been praying that
the Lord God grants you and your family the strength to endure the days ahead.
