Sunday, April 4, 2010 Bates Family Funeral Home Obituary: Mrs. Dorothy Nell Barnes of De Kalb, Texas, passed away Friday, April 2, 2010 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home. She was 83. Dorothy was born March 18, 1927 in Simms, Texas to Grover Cleveland and Dovie Williams Jones. She was a homemaker and a member of Old Union Primitive Baptist Church in Simms, Texas. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Charles Birdsong of New Boston, Texas, Jane and Jimmy Whitley of Horatio, Arkansas and Debbie and Donnie Bookout of Cooper, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Ima Dee Jones of De Kalb, Texas, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Darlene Thomas of De Kalb, Texas and Billie Edwina and Paul Gumaer of Quinlan, Texas; seven grandchildren, Cindy Slakey, J.D. Bookout, Biccy Hamilton, Kim Birdsong, Dallas Bookout, Chad Birdsong, and Ashley Whitley; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, James E. Barnes in 1985; and a daughter, Linda Nell Barnes in 1990. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Bates Family Funeral Home. Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 5, 2010 at Bates Family Funeral Home with Robby Bates and Rev. Ronnie Pipes officiating. Interment will follow at Old Union Cemetery in Simms, Texas. The family will be at the home of Bob and Ima Dee Jones, FM 990, De Kalb, Texas 75559. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Dorothy Nell. She was a sweet person and always so helpful to our family. My prayers are with all of you through this sad time. Just remember that she is with James now.

Kim, Carolyn and famiy: So sorry to hear about Dorothy Nell, but we all know she is in a better place, for which we will be able to see her again with a body free pain and confusion. We were at Sunny Acres all weekend with Allan's mom and will be going to the Hospital Tuesday. Keep us in your payers as we pray for you. Love, Carolyn Layne

Debbie this is the castleberry girls pat and jo. We did not even know of your mother;s passing until it was to late. We know she is in a better place and hopefully we will see all of our family soon.
