Monday, February 1, 2010 Bates Family Funeral Home Obituary: Mrs. Jewel Cooper Tidwell of De Kalb, Texas passed away Sunday, January 30, 2010 at Sunny Acres Nursing Center. She was 87. Mrs. Jewel was born December 23, 1922 in Paris, Texas to Emmitt and Sarah Cole Roberts. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Hooks, Texas. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and John Ross of De Kalb, Texas and Sue and Danny Martinez of De Kalb, Texas; a stepson, Darriel Tidwell of Kilgore, Texas; six grandchildren, Russell Stewart, Della Stewart, Christi Morris, DeWayne May, Leigh Ann Kaan, and Robby Shaw; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a great niece, Gayle Dyer and family; and special friends, Dale Stewart, Sr., Mildred Rankin, Henrietta Burns, Nora Dale May, Peggy Barfield and Nadine Goodman. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Hilton Tidwell, C.C. Tidwell and Gordon “Nig” Cooper; a son, Billy Cooper; a grandson, Dale Stewart, Jr. and a great granddaughter, Amanda Morris. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, February 1, 2010 at Bates Family Funeral Home. Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Bates Family Funeral Home with Robby Bates and Rev. Lynnwood Johns officiating. Interment will follow at Wards Creek Cemetery in Simms, Texas.
