Thursday, December 29, 2011 Bates Family Funeral Home Obituary: Amanda Kay Dunson-Smith, 33, of De Kalb, Texas, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011, in Greenville, Texas. Amanda was born March 1, 1978, in Mount Pleasant, Texas, to Stuart T. Stivers and Kathy Dunson. She was a Manager in the Corporate Offices of EZ Mart and a member of Grace Church in Nash, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, Stuart Stivers; and her grandfather, Lee Stivers. She is survived by her mother and stepfather; Kathy and Bruce Whitson of De Kalb, Texas; a son Bailon Kade Powell of Leary, Texas; a daughter, Kailon McKathryne Carnley of Atlanta, Texas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Stuart and Kelli Stivers of De Kalb, Texas and William and Danielle Stivers of Nash, Texas; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Callie and Channing Howland of De Kalb, Texas and Paige and Jon Smith of Horatio, Arkansas; an aunt and uncle, Louise and Mike Derrick of New Boston, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 29, 2011, at Bates Family Funeral Home with Sam White officiating. Interment will follow at Hubbard Cemetery. Amanda has been married to my dad Steve Smith for the past four years and he loved her dearly, he's having a very hard time with her loss as I know the entire family is. I pray God comforts you all during this time of grief. Amanda, you will be sincerely missed, RIP.

I am so so sorry to hear about Amanda. If Alicia wasn't at Kathy's house, Amanda was at mine. I loved her like my own. I feel so heartbroke over this. I am praying for you Kathy and the rest of the family. I pray that God will give you strength during this time. Amanda will be so missed.

My heart aches for you all in the tragic time of grief. I wish I could come up with something that would come close to easing at least a portion of your pain you feel now. But as sorry as I am there just are no words that could do that. I do know that she isn't gone, she's just gone ahead. She will be with you until you hold your angel in your arms again.
