Wednesday, November 16, 2011 Bates Family Funeral Home Obituary: Daniel Wayne Granbery of De Kalb, Texas, passed away Monday, November 14, 2011, due to injuries from an auto accident. He was 27. Daniel was born July 18, 1984, in Naples, Texas, to Steven Granbery and Annette Shumake. He was a welder, a member of the De Kalb VFD and was a member of Pinkham Memorial Missionaty Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Pauline “Sis” Shumake and his paternal grandparents, Elmer and Bid Granbery. He is survived by his wife; Amelia Vissering Granbery of Naples, Texas; his mother, Annette Kinney of De Kalb, Texas; his father and stepmother, Steven and Cindy Granbery of De Kalb, Texas; his stepbrothers, James and Josh Pool of Hooks, Texas; a stepsister, Kathryn Garner of De Kalb, Texas; his grandfather, Gay Shumake of De Kalb, Texas; great grandmother, Omie Wallace; uncles and aunts, Jacky and Kelly Shumake, Benny Shumake, Mike Granbery, Kathy and Eddie Ridge, Bama Gauntt; a special friend, Haley Tolison of De Kalb, Texas; and his best friend, Tristin Clark of De Kalb, Texas. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 17, 2011 at First Baptist Church in De Kalb with Bro. James Boyd Strain officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Bates Family Funeral Home. Annette, I am so very sad about Daniel. I just watched the video online and could'nt stop crying. I wish things had been different for Amelia and him. I know she still cared about him alot. But, we can't change the past. I am glad he came into our lives if only for a little while. I appreciate you still caring for Amelia and that you and Rachel came to Tyler when she had heart surgery. I don't know if I ever told you that. You will stay in my thoughts and prayers. Connie
