Tuesday, October 27, 2009 Bates Family Funeral Home Obituary: Cristel Duncan of De Kalb, Texas died Saturday, October 24, 2009 in Texarkana, Texas. She was born April 13, 1918. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, De Kalb, Texas. She worked as a secretary and a food supervisor. She was active in volunteer programs, such as "Keep De Kalb Beautiful" and Senior Citizens of De Kalb. She was a Sunday School Teacher and an avid "Fishwoman". She loved to fish. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Anne Duncan of Texarkana, Texas and Terry and Rosequan Duncan of Charlotte, North Carolina; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Leon Blake of Texarkana, Texas; one sister, Iva Joy Shaver of Austin, Texas; one brother, Travis Shafer of Grand Saline, Texas; five grandchildren, Cindy Aydelott, Stephanie Mayton, Dara Duncan, Scot Duncan, and Damon Duncan; six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, E.M. "Estel" Duncan; her parents, Luke and Lela Shafer; four sisters, Minnie Hall, Pearlie May, Enois Walker and Rosa Wood and three brothers, Choice Shafer, Jim Shafer, and Don Shafer. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Bates Family Funeral Home. Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Bates Family Funeral Home with Bro. James Boyd Strain and Gerold Rankin officiating. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home. Click Here for Video |
