Monday, November 22, 2010 Bates Family Funeral Home Obituary: Mr. James Alter Brown, 60, of De Kalb, Texas passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010 at a Texarkana hospital. James was born July 9, 1950 in New Boston, Texas to Joe and Annie Mae Mitchell Brown. In 1969, he married Claudia Megason in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. James worked in pest control and land management at Red River Army Depot and was a truck driver. He was a member of First Baptist Church in De Kalb, Texas, the De Kalb Riding Club and the De Kalb Wildlife and Hunting Club. He is survived by his wife, Claudia Megason Brown of De Kalb, Texas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carla and Andy Collie of De Kalb, Texas and Julie Hamilton of Hooks, Texas; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joe and Linda Brown of De Kalb, Texas and Bill Boyd Brown of De Kalb, Texas; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Charles Barger of De Kalb, Texas and Becky and Mark Cherry of De Kalb, Texas; three grandchildren, Ethan Lann, Brooke Batchelor and Jenna Lann; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, November 22, 2010 at Bates Family Funeral Home. Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Bates Family Funeral Home with Rev. Harold D. Lambert and Rev. Jimmy Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Spring Hill Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 178, De Kalb, Texas 75559.
